SEVERAL YEARS AGO, I DECIDED TO USE THE SPEED OF LIGHT OF 186,000 MILES
PER SECOND AS ONE CYCLE. I THEN DIVIDED THAT DISTANCE BY HALF AND DOUBLED THE FREQUENCY TO TWO CYCLES. I CONTINUED TO DIVIDE THE DISTANCE
BY HALF AND ALWAYS DOUBLING THE CYCLES PER SECOND.
FOR EXAMPLE, 186,OOO DIVIDED BY 2 EQUALS 93,OOO AND 2 CYCLES AND THEN
46,500 MILES AND 4 CYCLES AND SO FORTH.. AFTER 22 DIVISIONS, I ARRIVED AT
4.194.304 MHZ. AT THIS POINT, THE DISTANCE WAS .044345855 MILES.
I THEN MULTIPLIED THE DISTANCE OF A MILE, 5280 FT TIMES THE NUMBER .044345855
WHICH GAVE ME THE WAVELENTH OF 258.09 FT. WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS MEASUREMENT IS, FREE SPACE. IT IS MERELY AN EXERCISE IN HOW FREE SPACE
DIFFERS FROM OUR USUAL ANTENNA CALCULATIONS HERE ON EARTH.
I KNOW THERE ARE OTHER WAYS OF COMPUTING THIS, BUT BY DOING IT THE LONG WAY, MAY HELP TO UNDERSTAND A DIFFERENT VIEW POINT ABOUT SOLVING PROBLEMS. YOU CAN ALSO USE THE METRIC VERSION OF 300,000 KM PER SECOND.

TRY IT AND SEE WHAT YOU COME UP WITH...PAUL K0YNE
