HERE IS A LIST I HAVE BEEN USING OR HAVE DOWNLOADED OVER THE LAST 5 YEARS.
THESE ARE ALL "FREE" AND DOWN LOADABLE FROM THE INTERNET.

MMSSTV-- THE BEST SLOW SCAN PROGRAM EVER MADE IN MY OPINION. USING DRAG AND DROP
METHOD OF LOADING PICTURES INTO THE SEND PICTURE FILE, OR BY ACCESSING A PICTURE FILE.
MOST ACCURATE PICTURE SENDING AND CARD CORRECTION FOR TIMING AMONG THE ANALOG
SSTV PROGRAMS.

MMVARI-- A SIMPLE PSK PROGRAM. MEASURES S/N RATIOS.. IN A TEST WITH OTHER PROGRAMS, MMVARI
WOULD COPY MORE TEXT THAN OTHERS IN WEAK SIGNAL CONDITIONS.. OLD PROGRAM. MMVARI ALSO
CAN RUN RTTY EXTREMELY WELL. GREAT AFC ACTION ALLOWS YOU STAY ON THE SIGNAL FOR BETTER
DECODING.

MMTTY-- STRICTLY RTTY MODE. EXCELLENT DECODING, AND WILL PROVIDE EXCELLENT RTTY
TEXT JUST AS THE ABOVE PROGRAM MMVARI DID IN A TEST.

MULTIPSK-- LATEST VERSION NOW IS 4.15 .. EXCELLENT ALL AROUND COVERAGE OF MANY MODES.
RECENTLY JT 65 WAS ADDED, AND CAN BE USED BY BLIND OPERATORS AS WELL SINCE THE PROGRAM
HAS SIMULATED VOICE TO ANNOUNCE TO THE USER WHAT THE CALL IS AND GRID LOCATION , PLUS SIGNAL STRENGTH IN DECIBELS. JT 65 REQUIRES "EXACT TIMING BY THE CLOCK" MAY REQUIRE
USING AN ATOMIC CLOCK TO SET COMPUTERS CLOCK TO WITHIN " ONE SECOND  OF TIME"....
THE JT 65 MODE ALSO HAS A WORLD MAP SHOWING YOUR CONTACT STATION WITH A RED SQUARE
IN HIS COUNTRY OR STATE. THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER MODES IN MULTIPSK THAT YOU WILL HAVE
TO SEE FOR  YOURSELF.

FLDIGI-- ANOTHER RECENT PROGRAM I HAVE BECOME AWARE OF , JUST USED FOR RECEIVING, BUT NOT
SET UP ANY MACROS FOR TRANSMITTING YET. TAKE A LOOK AT IT. RECEIVES VERY WELL.

DIGIPAN-- COPIES MULTI STATIONS ON PSK SIMULTANEOUSLY. SHOWS CQ'S IN YELLOW..
MEASURES IMD ... IT IS A FREE MIXW PROGRAM.

HAMSCOPE-- AN OLD PROGRAM BUT WORKS OKAY.. CAN COPY 2 SIGNALS AT ONE TIME. NEEDS MTTY ENGINE FOR DECODING AND SENDING RTTY..HAS NICE FILTERS.

AIRLINK EXPRESS-- NEWER PROGRAM. USED IT ONCE. HAS "GREAT FILTERS". YOU CAN SELECT FILTER
CHOICES TO EXCLUDE OTHER STATIONS ALMOST ENTIRELY, ALLOWING FOR A NOTICEABLE SIGNAL
INCREASE WITH THE STATION YOU ARE WORKING.. GOOD PROGRAM.

HRD-- HAM RADIO DELUXE.. MANY TOP QUALITY FEATURES. MORE COMPLEX THAN THE ONES MENTIONED
ABOVE.  ONCE COMPREHENSION OF THE PROGRAM IS ACHIEVED, USERS SAY IT IS GREAT AND ALSO
PROVIDES CAT CONTROL OF YOUR TRANSCEIVER IF IT IS LISTED. ALSO DOES SSTV WITH
SIMULATED AUDIO TO ADVISE YOU OF THE MODE AND CALL OF THE SSTV BEING RECEIVED.

IZ8BLY-- HELLSCHRIEBER CW AND HELL. HAVE NOT USED THIS PROGRAM.

EASYPAL-- A TRUE DIGITAL SSTV MODE. EASY TO USE. AVAILABLE FREE AT THIS TIME AND SENDING
TIME AVERAGES ABOUT 2 MINUTES FOR A VERY GOOD QUALITY PICTURE. SINCE IT IS DIGITAL, THERE
ARE NO FLAWS IN THE PICTURE OTHER THAN THE PICTURE QUALITY AND SENDING TIME QUALITY.
BEEN IN DEVELOPEMENT FOR OVER 2 YEARS. SOON TO BE FINISHED I BELIEVE.
GO TO  KC1CS FOR DOWN LOAD.....IN SENDING, NO ALC PLEASE ,WILL CAUSE POOR ENCODING.

THESE ARE PRESENTLY BEING USED, AND  THE MIXW, MULTIPSK, HRD AND MMSSTV ,EASYPAL ARE THE
MOST POPULAR FREE PROGRAMS OUT THERE NOW.
WILL ADD TO THE LIST OR DESCRIBE MORE FEATURES IF NEEDED
I MIGHT ADD THAT A GOOD SOUND CARD BEATS THE CHEAPIES BECAUSE OF THE SIGNAL TO NOISE RATIO
MAY BE FROM 100 DB TO AS MUCH AS 116 DB WHEREAS THE CHEAPIES MAY BE IN THE 90 DB AND UP SLIGHTLY.
HIGH AMPLIFICATION IN THE SOUND CARD ACHIEVES MORE GAIN WITHOUT CREATING MORE NOISE IN THE
PROCESS.
