I am originally from: For all intents and purposes, I was born and raised in the mountains of Wyoming.
Marital Status: Single

XYL/Kids/Grandkids: One daughter living in G.I., four grandkids, three boys and a girl, all living in (choke!) New Jersey.

I got interested in ham radio because: Having been bitten by the bug while living in Cincinnati in the early 80's, I never got over it. Pulling those voices out of the ether is pure excitement for me.

Areas of expertise: I have spent my professional career as a field engineer maintaining and teaching others to maintain the large mainframe computer systems. Experienced as a course developer and teacher of electronics in government, commercial and academic environments.

My favorite thing to do in ham radio is: I am an HF sort, preferring to chat my time away on 40 and 20 meters.
My equipment consists of: I have recently upgraded to my own dream radio, a "Flex-Radio 3000 Software Defined Radio" and am usually barefoot at 100 watts. If the going gets tough, there is an Ameritron 811, 4 tube amp to push it. For VHF/UHF, I use a Yaesu FT-7800. I have also been found in my backyard with my FT60 HT and a hand held antenna working the ISS.

I would like to try the following new things in ham radio in the next 10 years: I am working on a major, personal project in training, something called "The Amateur Radio eLearning Initiative", and will publish it within the next year.
