**** Immediate Press Release*******

The Adams County Emergency Management Office, the Hastings Police Department, and the Clay County Emergency Management Office would like to inform the Public that 9-1-1 landlines are back in Service in Adams and Clay County.

At 4:30 pm Windstream informed the Nebraska Emergency Management Office that all landlines are back in service in the entire 402 area code region.  At this time no further information was given to us at the local level of the official cause of the problem.

Test of the system have been run by the Hastings Police Department and Clay County Emergency Management to make sure the system was working and remained on line.

There are still some isolated problems with cell phone use at this time in reaching 9-1-1 Centers.  This problem is continuing to be worked on.  Verizon and US Cellular calls may be routed to a non emergency number at the current time, so mapping can not be done at the dispatch center, so please take the time to know your location when calling.

We would like to thank the Public for their cooperation during this period and for using the non emergency numbers.  We also recommend that everyone program in your local non emergency law enforcement number into you cell phone for future reference if such an emergency should occur again.
